Being Sons/Daughters of God!

1 Sm 18:6-9,19:1-7; Mk 3:7-12

In today’s Gospel, we find the repeated mention of the word ‘crowd’ or ‘large number of people.’

Why would people flock to Jesus?

We also read that the people came from regions like Galilee, Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, Jordan, Tyre, and Sidon.

This shows Jesus’ popularity despite him ‘sternly warning them not to make him known.’

How did it happen?

I believe that the unclean spirits that Jesus drives out give us a clue to understand what people found in Jesus. The unclean spirits shouted, ‘You are the Son of God.’

If Jesus is the Son of God, who are we?

Through our baptism, we become children of God. Therefore, each one of us is a Son/Daughter of God.

If we are sons and daughters of God, does anyone ever remind us of the fact that we are God’s children?

If we want to boast of the fact that we are God’s children, the burden is on us to look more like Jesus, who exemplified being the ‘Son of God.’

This is an inescapable responsibility!

Let us pray for God’s grace to be ‘God-Carriers’ to prove our identity as God’s Children!
