Ti 1:1-9; Lk 17:1-6

Today’s Gospel highlights the importance of helping each other in our faith journey.

The disciples request Jesus to increase their faith. But the words of Jesus imply that instead of worrying about increasing our faith, it is more important to check the size of the faith we actually have. It is enough if we even have faith the size of a mustard seed and we would do greater things.

Secondly, Jesus instills in us the thought that everyone who has faith is great in the eyes of God. Therefore, causing the fall of the one who has faith is sinful in the eyes of God. Christians must be each other’s stepping stones and not the stumbling blocks.

The greatness of the Christian vocation lies in helping others in their faith journey as well.

Like ‘brothers in arms,’ Christians are ‘brothers and sisters in faith.’

When we call God ‘Our Father,’ the deeper implication of such invocation is that we become our brother’s and sister’s keepers, especially in their faith journey.

Let us pray that through our edifying lives and examples, we may inspire others into faith.
