Acts 6:8-15; Jn 6:22-29

Today’s gospel highlights the shallowness that sometimes characterizes our search for God.

We get to know the truth from the behaviour of the people who are looking for Jesus.

They look for Jesus, guess where he might be, and arrive there to meet him. All for what?

Not to listen to Jesus or believe in him, much less to develop a relationship with the God that Jesus was talking about all the time.

In looking for bread, their need seems very immediate and not eternal.

Jesus cautions them against such shortsightedness that often masks the spiritual search.

Real faith matures in a relationship with the Divine, just as Jesus experienced God, Whom he called ‘Abba Father.’

Faith is a relationship. The truth should animate our search for God.
