Acting on Love!

Acts 2:36-41; Jn 20:11-18

The Gospel passage is an example of Mary Magdalene’s unchanging love for Jesus.

Her love for Jesus is shown not only in the way she stands weeping outside the tomb because she couldn’t find the body of Jesus but also in the way she begins to make inquiries to find it.

Jesus too confirms her love for him when he says, ‘Stop holding on to me.’

Though Mary’s love for Jesus is inspirational, Jesus’ instruction cautions us of the lurking danger behind the so-called love.

Oftentimes, our love for Jesus encounters the danger of being reduced to mere adoration or admiration without convincingly expressing it in life.

Our love for Jesus is best proclaimed in actions that justify it.

It is when Mary decides to act on her love for Jesus, she becomes a missionary of love.

Let us pray for God’s grace to live out our love for Jesus.
