Acts 2:14,22-33; Mt 28:8-15
Today’s Gospel highlights the first message of the Risen Lord.
Mary Magdalene and the other Mary cannot make sense of the empty tomb. Hence, they are both fearful but overjoyed.
It is to them that Jesus says, ‘Do not be afraid.’
The second part of the Gospel highlights the fabrication of the truth of resurrection.
Those who denied Jesus now deny his resurrection.
It reminds me of the Buddha’s saying: ‘Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.’
The first message of the Risen Lord can be applied here too. When Jesus says, ‘Do not be afraid,’ it is a reassuring message to the despairing hearts that the Truth will triumph, no matter what.
Let us have no fear or doubt: Christ, the Truth, is risen. Alleluia!
