Acts 13:26-33; Jn 14:1-6
Today’s Gospel highlights the equality that we enjoy as disciples of Christ.
The reference to ‘many dwelling places’ offers the guarantee that heavenly experience is extended to every believer indiscriminately.
It is not only that Jesus prepares a place, but he also promises that we will be where he is.
The love of Jesus ensures everyone’s equal share in God’s Kingdom.
Unfortunately, the Divine agenda of discipleship of equals has met with practical challenges.
It is ironic and scandalous to find the Christian community divided along gender, caste, rank, and position.
We fail the Divine Agenda of discipleship of equals if we fail to create an egalitarian faith community.
Secondly, the ‘I’ statement of Jesus is highly profound in this regard.
Jesus is the ‘Way’ because he not only shows the way to heaven but also takes us there.
Jesus is the ‘Truth’ because he is the personification of the Divine Truth, made known to humans.
Jesus is the ‘Life’ because he came to give life and life in abundance.
In all these, Jesus provides us with a model of love, which we are called to recreate where we live.
