Love or Judgement?

Acts 5:17-26; Jn 3:16-21

Today’s Gospel highlights the greatness of God’s love, that sacrificed His only son for the redemption of the world.

We understand that God would rather sacrifice His only son than condemn the world.

Hence, in not loving Jesus, it is the world that stands condemned.

In the same way, before we can think of God’s punishment for our sins, we punish ourselves by living in sin.

Guilt, restlessness, resentment, and inner agitation are often the external manifestations of the inner battle that is going on.

Jesus came in love to die for us on the cross.

However, some experienced him as love, while others perceived him as judgement.

Peter denied Jesus three times. But he trusted in Christ’s mercy and was saved.

Judas betrayed Jesus but forgot the compassionate Lord and sought his end.

God is love, and love only.

However, it depends on who we are to experience God, either as love or judgement.
