Acts 6:1-7; Jn 6:16-21

Today’s Gospel helps us realize that consolation in life begins with God’s presence.

Blessings or consequences in life depend very much on the presence of God in our lives.

In the Gospel, the disciples encounter a sudden danger when Jesus is not with them.

Likewise, they have a sense of sudden safety when the Lord makes Himself present.

It was the moment of dawn for the disciples to realize that life can be so peaceful in Jesus’ presence and so tempestuous without him.

The disciples, who often represent our mindset, find out that having or not having God in life is not the same.

They also realize that only Jesus can say, ‘It is I. Do not be afraid.’

We are invited to learn and benefit from the discovery of the disciples that ‘God Matters’ in our lives.
