Acts 11:19-26; Jn 10:22-30
In today’s Gospel, we are challenged to discover Jesus as the Messiah.
Oftentimes, the struggle of the Jews is ours too. Therefore, ‘tell us plainly’ is our request as well.
However, Jesus is not ready for spoon-feeding. Instead, we are to discover the Messiah through his works.
Like the Jews in the Gospel, we go with the popular maxim, ‘I’ll believe it when I see it.’
But St. Ignatius reversed the saying, ‘When I believe it, I’ll see it.’
It is our vision that controls our perception.
The Jews would have understood Jesus as the Messiah if only they had believed in him.
Finding God in our daily lives happens through our faith.
For Christians, faith precedes perception.
