1 Mc 2:15-29; Lk 19:41-44
In today’s Gospel, we find Jesus weeping over the unrepentant city of Jerusalem.
His tears concern the fate of Jerusalem and not his own death.
The pain of rejection that Jesus encountered and the outcome of a fruitless mission amid the people of Jerusalem move him to tears.
By displeasing the Lord, Jerusalem brings curses upon itself.
It is often true of our lives too. More often than not, we are condemned by our own sinfulness.
But we read, ‘The joy of the Lord is the strength of His people’ (Neh 8:10).
We should pause for a question: ‘Am I leading a life pleasing and acceptable to the Lord?’
Is not the joy of the Lord our blessing?
